News about school transport from 1st September 2023
For the incoming school year 2023/24 there will be some changes in student transport. Here you get an overview.

Due to the decision of the city council of May 16, 2023, the previously subsidized student card (Schülerkarte) will no longer be available. Instead, for the new school year 2023/24, the city of Ingolstadt will subsidize the 365-Euro-Ticket for Ingolstadt's schoolchildren who are not subjects of the legal free travel to school and therefore will not receive a bus ticket from the city of Ingolstadt. The personal contribution of 23.00 euros per month will be remain the same. The 365-Euro-Ticket VGI is valid in all zones of the VGI tariff area (the districts of Eichstätt, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, and the city of Ingolstadt).

With new ticket offers for schoolchildren, trainees and students, the voluntary subsidy from the city of Ingolstadt will be remodeled from September 1st, 2023. Please note that the student card subsidized by the city of Ingolstadt can no longer be ordered for the school year 2023/24! As a result, the half-year ticket (with a validity period of 6 months) will no longer be available.
What Remains?
365-Euro-Ticket
- Schoolchildren whose place of residence AND school are in the VGI tariff area are entitled to purchase the 365-Euro-Ticket
- Valid in the entire VGI tariff area
- The term of the ticket is 12 months
- Returns or refunds are not possible

365-Euro-Ticket with Subsidy from the City of Ingolstadt for Schoolchildren
- From September 1st, 2023
- Subsidies are available to schoolchildren with their 1st residence in Ingolstadt with the valid postal codes 85049, 85051, 85053, 85055 and 85057
- The school is located in the VGI tariff area
- Valid in the entire VGI tariff area
- The term is always 12 months
- Returns or refunds are not possible
- The monthly contribution is 23.00 euros
Deutschlandticket for Trainees
- Prospective from September 1st, 2023
- Valid throughout Germany in 2nd class of local transport for all buses and trains in public transport
- Available as a subscription and cost of 29.00 euros per month
- The following are considered trainees:
- Schoolchildren at a vocational school
- Schoolchildren at a technical school
- Schoolchildren at a technical academy
- Schoolchildren of the State Institute for the Training of Specialist Teachers and the State Institute for the Training of Special Needs Teachers
- People with disabilities (or who are at threatened by a disability) who are completing training as part of a vocational training centre
Please have the completed application stamped and signed by the respective institution on time!
Deutschlandticket for Students
- Prospective from winter semester 2023/24
- Valid throughout Germany in 2nd class of local transport for all buses and trains in public transport
- Available as a subscription and cost of 29.00 euros per month
- For enrolled students
- Verification takes place via Shibboleth
- The subscription is only valid for the period of one semester. At the end of one semester, the Deutschlandticket must be ordered again for another semester
When will the Tickets be Available for Purchase?
We are currently working on going live in order to be able to offer the new tickets for purchase. After consultation with our software company, we expect to be able to make the new ticket offers available for purchase in the first half of August.
