Minister de Maizière in Expert Discussions with Local Representatives of Politics, Police, Judicial Authorities, and the INVG

Federal interior minister Dr. Thomas de Maizière convinces himself of the high efficiency of the camera-based security system of the INVG - control center at the Northern Railway Station in Ingolstadt.

Since half a year, the police has real time access to twelve video cameras of the INVG at eigth bus stops. In addition, video recordings can be used to the purpose of evidence up to one week after a crime has occurred.

De Maizière commends the cooperation among commune and police as exemplary: "Our public spaces have to be safe! Video surveillance serves hereby as an important contribution; it discourages possible perpetrators and helps to investigate of crimes. At the public transportation it works best, when  operator and police closely cooperate with one another on a daily basis as it is the case in Ingolstadt."

This new function further increases the importance of the INVG - control center and its technical core for the entire public transport in the region. The INVG - control center at the Northern Railway Station was put into operation in 2013 and manages the bus transportation of the city and in the INVG partner communities. Its original remits contain fault management, fuse connection, and the operation of the dynamic passenger information system at bus stops and the internet.

Head mayor Dr. Christian Lösel reinforces the will of the city Ingolstadt of further improving the protection of the citizens through an expansion of the video surveillance: "We do not rest on the success of the already installed technology but equip five additional INVG stops and the "Viktualienmarkt" with camera-based security systems. With this cooperative approach among the city, INVG, IFG (economic promotion), and police, we increase the safety for all citizens in our hometown."

Police commissioner Günther Gietl evaluates the common usage of modern video technology as very postive only a few months after start-up. He refers to success in investigations of multiple offences.

INVG-CEO Dr. Frank explains the overall high quality- and safety standards in Ingolstadt's public transport "Besides punctuality and cycle time, safety in the bus and at stops are the basis for modern and attractive public transportation. The camera-based security system, video recording in buses, and the selective insertion of private security services complement each other and passengers' interests excellently with the goal of a good and especially safe journey!"

In expert discussion with those responsible, the federal interior minister de Maizière and members of parliament Dr. Reinhard Brandl (CSU) and Eva Bulling-Schröter (Die Linke) inform themselves about public acceptance, technical status, and the framework of data protection regulations of the cooperation among police and the INVG.
